What is The Tokyo Oratorio Society:

The Tokyo Oratorio Society was founded in 1983 by Hiroshi Gunji to study and perform classical sacred music, especially Oratorio works. The choir's repertoire includes work by Bach, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Verdi, Mahler, Britten and Stravinsky. The choir has made over sixty concert tours abroad so far since 1989, including to Germany, Austria, Ireland, Korea, U.S.A. ,Norway and Israel. The choir has sung under the baton of renowned conductors such as Eliahu Inbal, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Christoph Eschenbach, Uri Segal, Junichi Hirokami and Gary Bertini and with many choirs abroad, including the St.Hedwig Domchor, the Salzburg Domchor , Collegium Vocale Schwaebisch Gmuet, the Tallaght Choral Society, the Ramat Gan Chamber Choir and the Prague Chamber Choir.
